About Seton Villa

They operate eight residential houses in the Marsfield area, with up to 5 residents in each, with further development of group homes. Seton Villa are committed to creating a safe and dynamic lifestyle and environment for their residents, based on their belief that primary to the care and wellbeing of every human being is connection with others.

Their culture reflects the rich traditions and values of Catholic Social teaching – promotion of the dignity of each person and the value of human life; a valuing of the common good over personal gain, solidarity with, and preference for the poor, and responsible stewardship. In all of their work they strive to foster a sense of community, and are dedicated to respecting and supporting the rights of people with disabilities to be active members of the broader community while pursuing their personal interests and goals.

About the Opportunities

Due to ongoing growth, Seton Villa is seeking several Disability Support Workers to join their passionate team on a permanent part time basis. Hours are flexible depending on your needs, and will vary up to 50 hours a fortnight.

Working as part of a rotating 24hr roster, you will be responsible for a range of activities that help residents achieve their person-centred plan goals and maximise their participation in the community.

These will include, but are not limited to:

  • Encouraging and supporting residents to develop and maintain their independence;
  • Supporting residents to establish and maintain relationships with a support network of family, friends, and members of the wider community;
  • Completing basic risk management tasks and identifying, eliminating or mitigating risks for residents; and
  • Driving residents to appointments, programs and other activities as required.

About You

You will be a caring and compassionate individual with strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of stakeholders.

Finally, you must have a current valid 'C' Class NSW Driver's License, and hold or be willing to obtain a First Aid Certificate and Criminal History Check.

Please Note: These roles require the incumbent to enter areas ordinarily used by women while in a state of undress or while bathing or showering, and therefore Seton Villa considers being a woman a genuine occupational qualification for this role under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1997 (NSW).

About the Benefits

This is a rewarding opportunity to finish each day knowing you have made a genuine difference in the lives of the residents.

You will be rewarded for your hard work and dedication with an attractive base hourly rate of $27.60 plus super, and a higher hourly rate for overtime or any weekend and late night shifts. You will also have access to salary packaging options and an EAP service if required.
